Clashing with family members can become a turbulent arms race of who's right and who's wrong. With no clear answer, oftentimes, prideful relatives reach a stalemate of silence, choosing to keep their fiery opinions to themselves to avoid any potential fallout. However, when this dad's parenting skills were put on blast by a lackadaisical brother-in-law, he couldn't leave things unsaid.

Frankly, every parent has their own style when it comes to their own kids. Because of these individual circumstances, and at least a million X-factors going into the successful rearing of their children, parents don't have to answer to anyone but themselves. If they believe they're doing the right thing for THEIR kid, that should never be undermined or questioned by anyone else in the peanut gallery.

Let's see what the commenters online had to say about this particular debacle. It seems as if the online voyeurs choose to side with a dad who sticks to his beliefs and stands up for what he thinks is right, even if it means driving a wedge between himself and the other side of the family.

Perhaps if the brother-in-law had confronted him directly, things would have been better received. But Vdavwil is right, if kids realize there are cracks in their parents' armor, they might be more inclined to rebel against the rules created to protect them.

The whole family seemed to have a say here on the entire matter, making this more than just a one-on-one disagreement but a family affair. Luckily for the dad in this story, vacation was almost over, and he could soon return to the parenting bubble he'd created at home. One where there is no scrutiny, his kids are thriving within the boundaries of their rule system, and order is restored.
